Edge of Space

Very few people have seen the Earth from a breathtaking vista of 82,000 ft (25km), twice the flight path of a commercial jet aircraft and three times the altitude of Everest!. At this height your view directly overhead fades into the darkness of space. Below you, the curvature of the Earth is awesomely apparent, and the horizon is 715 miles (1100 km) across. At this height, you are generally above 90 percent of the atmosphere. Conventional jets can not fly in such thin atmospheric conditions. It is as high as you can possibly get without riding a rocket to space.
